Who is Oluwo of Iwo? Oluwo of Iwo whose real name is Oba Adewale Rashid Akanbi. He is a very popular king and is known to be controversial ruler. 
Oba Abdulrasheed become the Oluwo of Iwo for November 2015 when he was 48 years.
He was born on the 21st of June, 1967 and is currently 55 year old as of 2022. Oluwo of Iwo celebrated his 55th birthday in June 21, 2022.
Oluwo of Iwo was born into the family of late Prince Kola Akanbi of Molasan Compound, Gbaase Ruling House, and he hails from Isale Oba, Iwo in Osun State in the South Western part of Nigeria.

In 1972-1978, Oluwa of Iwo had his primary and secondary school education at Oritamefa, Ibadan where he obtained his elementary certificate. He then proceeded to Iwo Grammar School, Araromi, Iwo, Osun State from 1978 to 1982 and later, Oba Akinyele Memorial High School, Idi-Ape Ibadan.
He went on to obtain an Ordinary National Diploma(OND) in Mass Communication from The Polytechnic Ibadan from 1985 to 1987. He also has Certificate in Cybis & Axis System which he got from Convergys Institute, Halifax, Nova Scotia in Canada from 2001 to 2005 and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from George Brown College, Toronto, Ontario from 2005 to 2009 and lastly, Seismic Certificate in Operations, Oil & Gas Processing Facilities in 2005.

His Career:
As of 1966 and 2005, he worked as a Data Processor, Bio-Skin GMBH in Hamburg Germany and as International Development Analyst (Oxfam Canada). He also worked as Associate Supervisor, Purdy Wharf Towers, Halifax, Nova Scotia in Canada.
Presently, he is the Chief Executive Officer of Prince Enterprises, Toronto, Ontario M5H4E7 Canada, Director and Founder of People Against Loneliness Inc. 508-58 Waterson Road, Toronto Ontario, Canada, West Africa Coordinator (Karcher Group FutureTech) presently working on supply of future technology on peace keeping force to the Defence Ministry and Managing Director, Morganz Gamo Quarry, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Podo Village, Ibadan.

Allow His Queen Wear Crown:
Popularly in Yorubaland, is only Kings that wear crown but Oba Abdulrasheed allow his wife, Queen Chanel Chin to wear crown like King.
A lot of people criticise him saying is not right for Queen to wear crown but the King said people that are doing bad mouth don’t know the culture.
“The first queen of Oduduwa (first Yoruba king), Olokun use to wear crown. Any king from the lineage of Oduduwa suppose allow his Queen to wear crown,” he said.

Emir Title:

When he wear Emir cloth to seat for his throne, people always criticise him saying his not supposed to dress like an Emir to seat in the Throne
Oba Akanbi said God is using the people against his fashion style to lift him up.
He said his is the King and will remain King for life, he said they can call him Emir of Yorubaland also the Igwe of Yorubaland and the Obi of Yorubaland.
“This is to upgrade and update our traditional culture, let it not go into extinction,” he said.
He adopt Islam instead of traditional religion. Oluwo of Iwo land, Abdulrasheed Akanbi said he cannot worship Idols because he believe in the gods.
The Oluwo of Iwo said he is advocating so that they will remove part of the Yoruba culture.
Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi said he did not take after any gods that he is not close to any gods.
“I command them, they don’t command me. I remove the Orisa that is in my palace for over 800 years. No other lesser gods is suppose to be in the kng palace. God is a jealous God and he won’t watch you raise another idol as his mate.”.

Oluwo of Iwo Fights:
In February, Oba Akanbi was accused of attacking Dhikrulahi Akinropo, Agbowu of Ogbaagbaa during a meeting that the Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG), Zone 11 call to settle land matter between the monarchs.
Due to the alleged injury he got from the attack, it was reported that Akinropo was admitted in the ​hospital.
But Oluwo of Iwo in his statement defend his action, he said Akinropo called him a lot of bad names and he wanted to shook him his staff in the eyes.
“I heavily rejected it with the force that he could not withstand,” he add.
Oluwo of Iwo Suspension:
Osun State Council of Traditional Rulers suspend the Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, for six months.
The committee that was set up find him guilty said he assault another Oba within Iwoland.
The verdict was that he will not attend any meeting of the Obas within the six months, he will not speak with the press and his activities within the state won’t be loud again.

N20m wedding Controversies:
In February, a letter surfaced on the internet, suggesting that the Oluwo requested N20m from the governor of Osun state to finance his wedding since it was a ‘marriage of two important institutions in Nigeria.’
The letter, stamped and dated February 8 , sparked huge controversy.
In no time, a spokesperson for the monarch disowned the letter, saying the communication did not emanate from the palace.
He said the letter lacked the basic in-house style of Oluwo’s correspondences.
“Oluwo always appends his signature while writing the government. Marriage is a personal affair. There is no marriage venture too big for the Oluwo to finance on his own,” the palace official said.
Marriage to First Wife and Children:

The Oluwo of Iwo land, Adewale Akanbi (Telu 1), is set to marry Princess Firdauz Abdullahi of the royal family in Kano.
The wedding is billed to hold on March 19, 2022, at the residence of the Madakin of Kano, in the ancient city of Kano.

A reception, strictly for ladies, will later hold at The Gidan Rumfa, the palace of the Emir of Kano.
The Oluwo, who divorced his Jamaican wife in 2019, found his love again from the Ado Bayero Dynasty in Kano.
On Tuesday, a palace source, who disclosed details of the forthcoming wedding to the media, described the bride-to-be as 27-year-old and “extremely beautiful”.
He also revealed that she is Ado Bayero’s granddaughter and the Emir of Kano’s niece.
Oluwo of Iwo marriage to Princess Firdauz Abdullahi, will be his second marriage after his divorce to Jamaica ex-wife Chanel Chin.
