Chief Mrs OBIANO has since graduation worked in so many reputable institutions and corporate organizations, holding sensitive positions in the course of her career. Between November 1991 and May 2010 she worked in various capacities in National Petroleum Corporation Investment and Management Services (NAPIMS), one of the eleven subsidiaries of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) as catering supervisor corporate, procurement officer and finally the welfare officer.
As procurement officer, working in the general services unit of materials management department of the joint venture division of NNPC-NAPIMS, she represented NAPIMS at the operators ‘ Chevron/Texaco, Shell, Elf, Exxon-Mobil, NAOC among others in locations for bid evaluations to determine expatriate quota, production level and limit for the fiscal year etc. She was also involved in pre qualification technical, commercial evaluation and pre tender meetings before contract awards.

She was also involved in contract review meetings to decide whether a contract should be advertised or extended for the existing contractor. She equally wrote evaluation memo for group Executive Committee on contract award and variation order. Chief Mrs OBIANO was also involved in the Subsea arm of Bonga where she worked with ABB offshore in charge of manufacturing the subsea materials.
She had on occasion represented NAPIMS as material officer in France, USA and United Kingdom on Bonga field development project of SPDC. The oil discovery is located in the southern part of the Niger delta which includes non weather-vanning, spread moored FPSO whence subsea wells produces reservoir fluids etc. Between November and December 2002, between April and June 2003, Chief Mrs OBIANO was assigned to Bonga pipeline, flow line risers as NAPIMS material officer. Her job as the procurement officer was indeed big as it involved engineering,procurement, fabrication, installation, pre-commissioning of the following facilities and related project management and other associated services such as:

A. Pipe-pipe production flow line and risers.
B. Water injection flow lines and risers
C. Gas export pipelines about 34 km long polymer-lined, un-looped system.
The scope of responsibility shouldered by Mrs OBIANO was such that she also assessed, reviewed materials and equipment management, procured document to see and ensure its strict compliance by contractors.
Chief Mrs OBIANO was to later work as the welfare officer of NAPIMS between 2004 and May 2010. Her job essentially entailed overseeing the activities of the canteen operators, planned the canteen menu with the canteen committee, processed staff loans and advances, writing quarterly, annual reports and budgets of the unit for the fiscal year. She prepared staff retirement/termination benefits and forwarded same to the corporations pension office for payment.

Before her present role as the First Lady of Anambra State, Chief Mrs Ebelechukwu OBIANO was involved in charity works to improve on the lives of the less privileged and other activities like church welfare, sports and marriage counseling among others.

Philanthropy/Charity:
She is affectionately referred to as Nne Anambra by everyone in the state due to her motherly concern for all. Her compassion goes out to children with special needs, the disabled, the destitute and widows. He once said in an interview that all these categories of people are a special gift from God to humanity and the world is incomplete without them because they remind us of our imperfections and the integrity of God. 
In an effort to transmit more lives, launched an NGO under the name ‘Caring Family Enhancement Initiative (CAFE); whose sole purpose is to touch the lives of the oppressed and disadvantaged.
Mrs. Obiano’s commitment to charitable courses never wavers, through CAFÉ she has set a new paradigm for helping the needy through the various projects and programmes she has accomplished. These include; CAFE Housing for Indigent Widows which has seen ten of the prototype 2-Bedroom bungalow built free and handed over to beneficiaries across the three Senatorial Districts of Anambra State. In the same vein, she is steadfastly constructing CAFÉ Market Toilets in rural markets to promote hygiene in rural communities.

Also Mrs. Obiano has trained and empowered over two thousand, five hundred indigent widows, women and youths in various skills under CAFÉ Skills Acquisition Training programme. These include: Hair Dressing and Beauty Therapy, Fashion Design, Soap Making, Cake Baking and Confectionery, Telephone Repairs, and Community Health Services. The beneficiaries were supported with equipment and start-up stipend.
She equally made possible free Prosthetic limbs to over a thousand physically challenged and donated free wheel chairs to many more. She also facilitated free surgeries for 30 children with congenital abnormality of Cleft lip and Cleft palate and sponsored the care, treatment and discharge of forty mentally challenged persons at a Home she setup in Nteje amongst other interventions.

Mrs. Obiano is a recipient of several awards both local and international in recognition of her commitment to charity and the welfare of the less privileged. Some of the awards include; Primetime Reporters First Lady of the Year Award 2016, Most Valuable Governors’ Wife Award 2016/2017, Excellence Award 2016 by Nigerian Women of Atlanta Georgia, United States of America, EU/UNICEF WASH Ambassador, and United Nations Peace Ambassador to mention a few.
